Mayfield Studio day (part 2)

Another day at the wonderful Mayfield Studio. First up is the incredible Rita. I first shot her about 18 months ago as a new model, and she was very good from the off. She hasn’t modeled for about a year and you wouldn’t have guessed. She was fantastic! I can’t wait to shoot with her again.
Alice is a little bit special. We have been working together regularly over the last year for a book that will be out very soon(by the end of October I hope) where you will be to see all the great work we have been doing over the last 12 months. Yesterday set was a lot of fun. (Pity the TV didn’t work).

Claire is brand new to modeling. This was her first ever shoot. She was very nervous, but I do see potential. I think once she has learned to relax she will do well. Must have been very daunting to be in a studio with 2 other photographers and about 7 or 8 other models for your very first shoot!

Last but not least we come to Alice J and Sophie. Best friends and both as mad as a box of frogs(especially Sophie!) Both great fun to be around and once they get the confidence they need they will both be great. They have a great attitude and are willing to learn. Watch this space!

Image published.

If you’re in the North East you may well read the Sunday Sun. Today one of my images is on the front and full size on page 3.  While I am very happy that my image of Katrina Darling is featured,  it’s incredibly annoying that they didn’t credit me.  I only agreed to it being published on the condition my copyright was printed.  I shall be following this up.

Kat.

Confession time. I have a total crush on Kat. As a model she is simply awesome. She can do rock chick, pinup and burlesque(which she is possibly best known for), glamour, and fashion. She is fun, funny and has an attitude that I absolutely adore in a model. I’m very lucky in that I get to shoot some incredible looking girls from all over the country, but Kat just has ‘something’ that makes her incredibly special.

I cant wait for the next time.

These were again shot at Mayfield Studio which I can’t recommend enough. These images are on the white infinity curve with just one octobox creating the light from camera left.

Abbey (part II) and Kat.

As you saw on Monday, Abbey was a first time model. I thought she did a great job, even though she was very nervous. Before her solo stuff we did some images of her and Katrina Darling together. Away from modeling they are best mates, and I think that shows in these images– very relaxed and a lot of fun.

On Friday there will be more from Kat on her own.

Here are a couple of Kat on her own that were, obviously done at the same time.

I still struggle a little in a studio setting but the one thing I love about Mayfield Studio  is the natural light it gives.  I love shooting in this corner where the light is beautiful.  Needles to say these images(and all the ones from Monday) are natural light only. Oh, and those spots? All from a disco ball!

Abbey.

I saw Abbey in a pub one night and just thought, ‘WOW She’s cool’. I was quite drunk and as she was with her fella, so I decided rather than go over myself, I would ask a friend to take over one of my cards and tell her why she was giving it to her.  She got in touch and we set up a shoot.  She had never modeled before and she was pretty nervous but she did a great job.  I really like these images.  She also did some images with Katrina Darling  which you will see later (as well as some awesome images of Katrina on her own).

If your a Tumblr user then Abbey has a very cool blog here.

Sophie-watch out-curves ahead!

Sorry for the corny title but I think its safe to say that Sophie has curves–and what curves!   She avoided shooting with me for a long time as she thought I would only want to shoot her naked  (I would love to-but she looks amazing dressed too)  and eventually her best friend Alice convinced her to. I am so glad she did. Sophie looks incredible and as this was only her second or third ever shoot, I can see a lot of potential.  I have shot her again since, and will be doing so again (maybe with less clothes?)  :)

We shot this set down Newcastle quayside, and it was a very bright day(as you can tell from the first(two) images). Lighting was mostly ambient with fill in from a 60cm softbox and Canon 580 ex II.

Sally at the Magnesia works.

I haven’t known Sally that long, but she has become one of my best friends.  She is a fantastic person and although never considers herself a model I think she rocks.  Big time!   She is a demon on a pole too.   You may remember her  cowgirl  set?

These were shot at the (in)famous  Magnesia works at Hartlepool.   I think just about every urbanX  and model photographer, in the North East has shot here at some point.

Along for the ride on the day was the rather awesome Mr Derk German, who, if your model I suggest add,and book him for a shoot.  His blog is called thetiedhasturned.

Im sure he wont mind me showing you a couple of  ‘behind the scenes’ shots from the day.

Mayfield Studio Day.

Spent the day at  Mayfield Studio  in Newcastle yesterday, with two other photographers and loads of models!   The whole  day was a blast with some amazing girls, working really hard to create some great images.

Here is a taster from each girl. There will be more from each set of course, over the next few weeks.

In my honest opinion  Katrina Darling  is the best model in the north east.  I am stunned she isn’t in demand more with the ‘bigger’ names in the photography world.  She is best known for pin up but can do fashion and glamour just as well. Here is an ‘alt glamour’  (with a hint of ‘fashion’?) shot from yesterday.

Next up, is Kat’s friend Abbey. She has never modeled before and was very nervous. She has a fairly unique look, with a hint of a famous(dead) singer about her. I thought she did a great job and she should keep doing at as she will only get better. Check out her Tumblr here.

I had to add this shot too. As some of you know,I have a bit of a ‘thing’ for amazing womens shoes (and, no, not wearing them!) Both Kat and Abbey kept me happy in that department yesterday!

Sophie is another girl who hasn’t modeled for very long at all.  A fantastic curvy figure and a great attitude means she is going to be a success the more she models.  She absolutely ‘rocked’  it yesterday!

Lilith is a girl I have shot with many times, and will continue to do so.I love shooting with her, because of her attitude, and her continually improving ability as a model. She is a good friend as well. I wanted to try something completely new yesterday with low key lighting.  Not something I have done before but I love this.  The second image is something more typical and is Lilith in ‘rock’n'roll’ mode.

Sally is simply awesome.  A writer, dancer, and the sort of mad woman who climbs mountains and jumps out of planes.   She doesn’t class herself as a model, but as a great friend should, I bully her into it!  She seems to enjoy it so it can’t be that much of a hardship for her!
Emily-Rose is just a sweetheart.  Only  been modeling since she turned 18. She is tiny but has a big personality. She wasn’t one of my models yesterday but  I ‘stole’ her from one of the other photogs (thanks Gregg) just for a quick 5 minutes of portraits. This was my favorite of them.

Last but not least, the very elegent Amy Wesencraft. Amy isn’t normally my kind of model, as I would class her as a ‘fashion’ model. Five foot 10, and legs that go on forever.

Finally check out the other two photographers that I was at the studio with yesterday.
I have know Gregg for a long time and he is a top man–get a shoot with him.

Secondly my good mate Sabu Brian. The ‘King of beards’.

Constance Peach.

Constance Peach is an ever increasingly popular burlesque performer based in the North East. However her popularity is spreading and she travels more and more nationally.  A great girl who has a real grace about her.  She has done a lot of classy burlesque modeling and some wonderful latex work.  Just for a change I really wanted to ‘grime’  her up a little.  So I did. :)

The t-shirt was provided by Dare to Wear clothing.  Highly recommended if you need ANY t-shirt design(no matter how offensive!)  Web site

FayeX.

In late 2009, I took a trip to Sheffield and got to shoot 4 incredible girls. One of those girls was FayeX, who is actually my favorite model. I put her up there with Pammy and Vikki Blows as far as talent and beauty is concerned. The advantage Faye has over the other two is, I have met her, made images of her, and sat and had a 3 hour conversation about every subject under the sun, with her!  She is simply incredible.  On top of all that she is an amazing photographer in her own right. Don’t you just hate ultra talented people?  :)
I really hope I get the chance to shoot with her again.

I can only apologise, that it has taken so long to get these images out there. I have no idea why its taken so long.
